S&P: Republic of Sakha Outlook Revised To Stable On Expected Stronger Financial Performance Print E-mail

MOSCOW (Standard & Poor's) March 22, 2010--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said today that it had revised its outlook on the Russian Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) to stable from negative and affirmed the 'BB-' long-term issuer credit and 'ruAA-' Russian national scale ratings.

At the same time, 'BB-' and 'ruAA-' senior unsecured debt ratings were assigned to the republic's planned three-and-one-half year amortizing Russian ruble (RUB) 2 billion ($69 million) bond, which the region intends to place on March 25, 2010. The bond will have 14 quarterly, fixed coupons and an amortizing repayment schedule. In 2012, 40% of the bond is scheduled to be redeemed, with the remaining 60% set to be repaid in 2013.

In order to implement the International project of UNESCO "Circumpolar civilization in the museums of the world: yesterday, today and tomorrow" The Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Russian Federation hosts the same-named international scientific conference in Yakutsk from July 29th to August 1st, 2009. The cost of lodging, meals, transportation services for the conference participants is paid by the host.

The Evenks or Evenki (formerly known as Tungus or Tongus) are a Tungusic people of Northern Asia. In Russia, the Evenks are recognized as one of the Indigenous peoples of the Russian North, with a population of 35,527 (2002 Census). About 2% of Yakutia's population are Evenki. Evenki have their own language, customs and deep reach culture. There is a proposal at Meta-Wiki to establish Evenki's own Wikipedia. Is it winter all year round over there?

Not exactly. Although winters are very cold in Yakutia (Average January temperature: −50°C), there are hot and sunny days in summer. Sometimes temperature goes up to +40°C (104°F).
