French company to develop project of World Mammoth Museum for Yakutsk Print E-mail

World Mammoth Museum will be founded in Yakutsk. President of Republic Sakha (Yakutia) Vyacheslav Shtyrov was informed about concept’s development by members of a special working group, organized by a president’s decree. Yakutia’s first deputy prime-minister Gennady Alexeev informed, that French consulting La Pas Group together with republican government develop the project.

Airplane gains a passenger midair Print E-mail

YAKUTSK, Russia, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- The crew of a Russian airplane had to act as midwives Thursday when a passenger suddenly went into labor, the Interfax news agency reported. The Yakutia airlines jet was three hours into a flight from Moscow to the eastern Siberian city of Yakutsk when a 24-year-old woman complained of abdominal pains, an airline official said.

AN-148 has completed tests under super low temperatures Print E-mail

In Yakutia, one of the coldest regions of the planet, certificate tests of AN-148, the Russian-Ukrainian passenger regional jet of a new generation, under super low temperatures of an ambient air had been completed. These tests were performed within a period from December 27, 2005 to January 29, 2006.

Khabarovsk. 656 towns of Far East Federal District that have no telephone service at all are going to have it this year. Telecom operators are planning to install 3000 pay-phones and 600 public Internet access points in such places.

Nickel and Alrosa met to merge Print E-mail

MOSCOW (Dow Jones)--Shareholders of Russian mining giants OAO Norilsk Nickel (GMKN.RS) and Almazy Rossii-Sakha (AZR.YY) have met to discuss a possible merger, but there is no prospect of a deal in the near future, a senior Russian politician said Wednesday.

MOSCOW. Jan 12 (Interfax) - Eight Russian and Japanese companies have expressed a firm interest in buying 29.495% of the Elgaugol coal producer, which holds the rights to the giant Elginskoye coal field in Yakutia, from Russian Railways (RZD), Vladimir Yakunin, the president of RZD, told Interfax.
